Wilmington, NC artist, Clair Hartmann grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and studied painting and graphic design at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She was encouraged by her uncle Jimmy Lueders; an accomplished painter and faculty of the Pennsylvania Fine Arts Academy. After years of owning her own graphic design studio she decided to follow her passion and paint full time. She has work in a number of private collections and institutions; both nationally, and internationally. Clair has owned and operated a local gallery. In between painting, Clair, an accomplished metal smith, designs and sells jewelry. She is also well versed in photography, fiber arts, metals and studied under Hiroshi Sueyoshi in ceramics. Clair’s works have been published recently on the cover of Artists and Illustrators Magazine, in “Frida Obsession”, “Book of the Dog”, Modern Dog magazine and her paintings are featured on labels for Pug vineyard in Sonoma, CA.
