Gallery Proposals
The Wilma W. Daniels Gallery hosts solo and group exhibitions. Exhibitions are accompanied by artist residency programs, including talks, workshops, and demonstrations. We would like to invite artists and art groups to make submission proposals for exhibitions and any auxiliary programs. A checklist is provided at the end of this form with the required application materials.

The Gallery generally hosts 6-8 exhibitions annually. Located across the street from the Wilson Center in downtown Wilmington, NC, the Gallery is open Monday-Friday 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM and the Fourth Friday of the month from 6:00 PM- 9:00 PM

Exhibition Selection Process
The Wilma W. Daniels Gallery staff will review the proposals for all the completed
submissions, using the following criteria, but not limited to:

  • Artistic excellence: The quality of the artwork, originality, and technical
    proficiency
  • Concept: The appropriateness of the concept to the project, and the artist’s ability
    to communicate it
  • Scale, material, and form: Whether the artwork is appropriate for the site
  • Community values: Whether the artwork is appropriate for the local and college
    community
  • Safety considerations: Whether the artwork is safe for the intended location and
    audience
  • Educational and professional background: The artist’s educational and
    professional background
  • Relevance/Purpose: How well the artwork relates to the WWD Gallery’s primary
goal, the community, and the college’s mission
  • Target audience: Whether the artwork interests the target audience

The Exhibition
Artists will be responsible for transportation of work, hanging and dismantling the exhibition under the supervision of the Wilma Daniels Gallery staff. Artwork must be removed from the premises by the artist or their representative at the agreed upon time. The Gallery is not responsible for work left on the premises after that time.

Sale of Work
A commission of 20% on all non-Cape Fear Community College student work sold will be levied by the Gallery.

Application
Please keep in mind that the Gallery’s exhibition calendar is planned a year in advance. However, the Gallery is always interested in reviewing proposals for exhibitions. All submissions will be carefully reviewed.
