Wilma W. Daniels Gallery and Cape Fear Community College is proud to present In the Making: A High School Art Exhibition, featuring the growing talent of local students from New Hanover and Pender County public high schools. Showcasing works in ceramics, sculpture, photography, drawing, and painting, the exhibition highlights the refinement of skill, creative ambition, and artistic discipline of these student artists. They demonstrate not only technical growth, but also the persistence and imagination required to develop work that speaks to their audience.

The works presented here reflect careful observation, experimentation, and revision. They reflect the act of learning through making. Each piece demonstrates not only technical development, but also the confidence to explore ideas, challenge perspectives, and communicate through visual form. From cultural references to imagined environments, these young artists reveal a thoughtful engagement with the world around them, transforming ideas into compelling visual experiences.

More than a presentation of finished artworks, In the Making offers insight into the evolving voices of a new generation of artists. The exhibition celebrates the vital role of arts education in fostering critical thinking, persistence, and creative inquiry, while recognizing the passion and determination of students who continue to push the boundaries of their abilities and imagination.
