Anna Edwards is a naturally creative person with interests in reading, writing listening to music and visual arts. Edwards has found a strong creative voice through the lens of a camera and captures beautiful and meaningful photographs. Edwards credits the book ‘Emergence’ a book of photographed portraits by Cynthia Macadams as one of her leading inspirations.

At the Artist Talk we got to hear the inspiration behind Anna Edwards’ piece Saturated, which carries a deeply thoughtful and emotional narrative. The story behind the photograph reflects both her empathy and the way she channels her emotions into her creative process. This photograph was a part of a series that pay tribute to the victims of the Uvalde school shooting, paired with her effort to preserve the innocence and wonder of childhood through the vibrant flowers, is incredibly moving.

The act of arranging and photographing the flowers in a park with the intention of capturing how the children might have seen them offers a tender reflection on how beauty and nature can remain untouched by the harshness of the world. By approaching her work in this way, Edwards invites viewers to experience a sense of purity and joy amidst tragedy—something that is often hard to grasp when reflecting on such painful events.

Edwards work titled ‘Saturated’ is a stunning digital photography work, which will be on display at the Wilma W. Daniels Gallery until May 1st, 2025
